In the new movie The Idea of You, Anne Hathaway plays a 40-year-old mom who falls in love with the 24-year-old lead singer of August Moon, her teen daughter's former favorite boy band. In real life, Hathaway isn't much of a boy band fan, but Nicholas Galitzine, who plays the object of Hathaway's desire, has his favorite.
“I don’t know that much about boy bands. I was trying to be diplomatic, but the truth is, I’m going totally blank right now," Hathaway told Billboardwhen asked to name some of her favorites. She's a bigger fan of pop music made by women, naming Madonna's "Like a Prayer" as "the ultimate pop song." A close second, she says, is Britney Spears' "...Baby One More Time."
"I think ‘Toxic’ is really amazing too," she added.
But Galitzine has some firsthand experience with boy band songs.
"There’s a song that I used to perform in front of my parents and my sister,” he told Billboard. "I think it was called ‘Incomplete’ by the Backstreet Boys. It’s so melodramatic, so I think that’s what makes it a perfect boy band song.”
That 2005 song was the first release from Backstreet Boys after they regrouped following a two-year break. It reached #13 on the chart and was RIAA-certified Gold.
The Idea of You arrives on Prime May 2.

On her Instagram Story Monday, Selena Gomez posted a note written on a paper towel that said, "I love you! Sleep well! I made you steak!" and was signed with a heart. Selena tagged her boyfriend, music producer and chef Benny Blanco, and added a heart. But if you want to know the backstory, you can watch a video on Instagram in which Benny appears to be auditioning for the title of World's Best Boyfriend.
In his Instagram video, Benny explains that Selena is working, so he's going to cook her a special meal, go to her work and drop it off for her as a surprise. "Whenever I wanna put a smile or her face, or get laid, I just make her steak," he says. He proceeds to whip up what he describes as "the best steak dinner she's ever had": meat, perfectly fried potatoes and a Caesar salad with homemade croutons.
Benny packs up the food, then reveals that he attempted to bring it to Selena's work but they "gave her the day off," so he heads to her house, lets himself in and discovers she's sleeping. So he puts the food on her nightstand and writes her the note to let her know it's there. Ain't love grand?
"Finally someone treating Selena the way she deserves," one fan commented.
"[F]or everyone that keeps asking how he got Selena. THIS is how," another fan commented. "I want my own Benny Blanco. he's cute, dresses well, talented af, funny, AND can cook like wtf. he's quite literally perfect. idk why everyone is so confused."
"He's in love and there's no guessing, no wondering, he wears it on his sleeve," added another. "What more could a woman want?"

Katy Perry appeared on American Idol on April 29 with a shoulder-length shag haircut that she'd documented getting on Instagram with the caption "thoughts, comments, concerns?" When some fans freaked out, she revealed she had just trolled them.
After the initial "haircut," video, Katy then posted a video saying, "You guys had a lot of strong feelings about my haircut. Let's see that energy for KP6. 'Cause this is just a wig."
So far, Katy hasn't announced when KP6 — her next album — will arrive.
Fans did, however, have strong feelings. One, recalling when Katy had short hair around the time of her underperforming 2017 album Witness, commented, "You really can’t control yourself can you? Someone needs to keep the scissors away from your head. We don’t want Witness 2.0."
Another wrote, "When we said justice for witness… we didn’t mean recreate it."
Other fans defended Katy, with one writing, "What a babe no matter what hair length always bringing it. Another chimed in, "I STILL LOVE YOU LONG OR SHORT."

A few weeks ago, Maroon 5 reposted to their Instagram Story a video that Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger had shared, showing him dancing to the band's hit "Moves Like Jagger" with an animated "GOAT" — "Greatest of All Time" — graphic. Now, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has given his approval to a celebrity's rendition of another one of their classic hits.
On his Instagram Story, Adam posted video of the Toronto Raptors' star forward Scottie Barnes singing Maroon 5's 2004 single "This Love" at karaoke in Cancun in April. He tagged both Barnes and the band in the post, adding a couple of exclamation points.
Barnes reposted the video to his own Story, adding the comment, "Too good" and the laughing-til-you-cry emoji.
Maroon 5 returns to Las Vegas for their residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM starting May 17; they're touring the East Coast in June with Maren Morris. There are conflicting reports as to whether or not Taylor Swift will grace the red carpet at this year's Met Gala, which takes place in New York City on May 6.
TMZ reported that Taylor and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, had been invited but said they weren't coming. However, Page Six is now reporting that it's "exclusively learned" that Taylor will be there, but it's not clear whether Travis will be.
Meanwhile, E! says it's confirmed that Taylor is skipping the event so she can, understandably, get ready to launch the European leg of the Eras Tour, which starts May 9 in Paris. E! says it's "likely" that Travis will also be a no-show.
And Entertainment Tonight agrees with E!, reporting that Taylor won't walk the red carpet because of the tour.
Taylor's first Met Gala was in 2008; she's attended six times, with her most recent appearance being in 2016, when she wore Louis Vuitton.

Meghan Trainor is going to kick off her first tour in seven years in September, and her husband and two sons, Riley and Barry, are coming along with her. When Meghan appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on April 29, Kelly, who's had experience touring with her kids River and Remy, offered her some advice.
"I have one tip for you," Kelly cautioned Meghan. "With your kiddos, you feel like you have to wake up with them. Like, don't do that! Let [your husband] wake up with them, sleep in as long as you can. 'Cause you don't go onstage 'til late. 'Cause your voice will hate you! It won't [last]."
When Meghan said she's only doing a two-month tour to see if she and her family can "survive" being on the road, Kelly warned, "You won't, if you try and be super mom. You're gonna be super mom by showing them how amazing you are onstage."
When Meghan said that she might want to take her kids to museums while they're on the road, Kelly said, "Don't try and do it all. I tried to do that too ... you're excited about life, just like me, and it's O.K. to miss some of the moments. It's O.K.!"
"Thank you for saying that," Megan responded.
Meghan also talked about her new album, Timeless, coming out in June. Asked why she chose that name, Meghan revealed that all her albums start with "T" — for Trainor — "to represent my family." But also, Meghan said, she and her husband are "trying to live forever" for their children.
"And I want them to live forever," she added. "So I wanna live and love like we are timeless, and if someone was like, 'Here's a pill you can live forever,' I'd be like, 'O.K.!'"

Jelly Roll has enjoyed hit records and major awards since he first broke through last year, but one of the most memorable things he's experienced, he says, has been appearing on so many TV programs. However, there is one show that he hasn't yet been on and really, really wants to be — as an actor.
"Man, I've been on TV more times than I ever would have dreamed of being on TV," Jelly told ABC News at the Stagecoach Festival. "I mean, Good Morning America, [Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve] ... American Idol. I've been a part of television programs I've watched for decades."
But the one program he's willing to beg to be on is — drumroll, please — American Horror Story. Describing himself as a stan of the FX series, he raved to ABC News about getting to meet one of the show's stars, Emma Roberts, at Stagecoach. "Me and my wife fanned out both times we seen her," he said.
The "Save Me" singer offered a plea directly to Ryan Murphy, the co-creator and co-producer of American Horror Story.
"Ryan, please call me, man," Jelly begged. "I know you don't know me. If we could do a 30-minute Zoom and just let me hard sell you on why I should be in the next American Horror Story, I'd appreciate it."
His plea continued, "Ryan Murphy. Yell at me. I'm shooting at you every time I get a chance on a national platform. Ryan Murphy, I'll get my people with your people. I just need 15 to 30 minutes."

Charlie Puth has seemingly responded to being name-checked on the title track of Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department. In the song, Taylor sings that she and a former lover "declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist." On Sunday, Charlie reposted a photo that Taylor had posted in celebration of the album's success. In the picture, which is printed on a disc, Taylor sits inside a recording booth. "The Tortured Poets Department" is written atop the disc in black marker.
Speaking of Taylor, her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn is saying so long. Over a year after the couple broke up, Joe seems to have moved on. “He’s dating and happy,” a source told People. “He’s a great guy and not into drama in any way.” While he has moved on from his longtime relationship with Taylor, he doesn't seem to hold any ill will toward her. Joe “certainly doesn’t talk poorly about her. ... He was in love with her, and it just didn’t work out," the source said.
