Bank of Cyprus renovated Data Centre goes into operation

The first phase of the Bank of Cyprus Data Centre Renovation Project has gone into operation with the migration of IT equipment commencing this week.

Earlier in the month extensive tests were carried out on UPS, generator and close control air conditioning systems to verify design capacities and system resilience.

The M&E design of the project was carried out by Troup Bywaters and Anders of UK in conjunction with Green Growth Energy Services who also carried out the Project Management of the new facility.

Green Growth Energy Services Director and Project Manager Tamer Zaim said ” As far as I am aware, this is the first renovation project of its kind in Cyprus undertaken within a live Data Centre environment. We managed to completely modernize the Bank’s main Data Centre, renewing power and  A/C systems as well as raised floors, IT cabling and cabinets without interrupting the Bank’s IT operations. The most challenging task was the demolition of walls and columns in such a sensitive and secure area. Close co-operation and teamwork between engineers, contractors and Client’s technical, IT and security staff ensured the success of the project “.

The project provides ample growth potential for future IT needs and has been designed with energy efficiency as the top priority.
