WHO ARE WE ?

Goodwill Gulf Coast has been serving Southwest Alabama and the Florida Panhandle for more than 65 years. Our team is proud to do the most good with your donations that we can. Proceeds from every purchase is spent on mission services for anyone who needs them, from birth to seniors and every stage in between.

Goodwill Gulf Coast serves 10 counties in Alabama and Florida. Because you care enough to support us, we are able to provide services to over 12,000 people each year. When you shop and donate, you help people with disabilities or disadvantaging conditions. Your dollars help someone find support, a job, and education. People in our community are BETTER because of YOU.

Services include:

  • Job Training and Placement Services – for people with disabilities and others with barriers to employment. Referring partners include the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, Florida Department of Education and the Alabama Department of Human Resources. 
  • Work Training Center/Ability One – GWI Services, Inc. is the Goodwill partner corporation providing services under four Ability One janitorial contracts in Mobile County employing 37 individuals with significant disabilities

Services include:

  • Adult Education – Small classes, taught by program staff instructors, are offered at 4 Goodwill locations. Classes are also provided at the County Metro Jail and the Youth Correctional Facility. Additionally, outreach program sites, staffed by community volunteers, make Adult Education more accessible to those living in more remote areas of the region. 
  • GED Testing – The Official GED Test is administered weekly in the Goodwill PearsonVue Testing Center located at the Ladd Learning Center. 
  • Career Pathway Programs – a variety of credentialed training programs are offered through live instruction, virtual classrooms, hands-on practice and blended learning opportunities. Options available include computer skills (beginner to advanced), Child Development Associate preparation, Lodging/Food Service, and Forklift Certification.
  • English Language Classes – Goodwill Gulf Coast provides English Language classes in Mobile and Baldwin Counties.

Services include:

  • Medical Assistance & Equipment Loan – assistance to individuals with disabilities to obtain medical supplies or adaptive equipment free of charge which leads to an improved quality of life and greater independence. 
  • Kaleidoscope Day Program – for younger adults who have recently transitioned out of high school and other non-senior adults who desire to remain active and engaged in structured daytime learning and recreational activities. 
  • Financial Wellness & Free Tax Prep (VITA)  – Free Income Tax preparation for low to moderate income households, workshops and counseling on budgeting, first time home buyer, credit and banking are offered

Services include:

  • Digital Skills Training – Self-paced job training in a relaxed classroom environment and virtually. Learn basic to mid-level computer skills such as Basic Computers, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and so much more. In addition, virtual courses through Career Campus also include QuickBooks, Adobe, CNA, hospitality, and others.

Services include:

  • Child Development Center – Goodwill Gulf Coast operates an inclusive child development center in partnership with the local school system in Mobile. Children of all abilities receive high quality instruction with small child-staff ratios. Our center is located in Mobile off Old Shell Road at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church.
  • Home Visitation for Preschool Readiness – the PAT and HIPPY programs visit families with young children addressing early childhood education, health and developmental issues and provide instruction and connections to needed resources. 
  • Early Intervention – Infants and toddlers with special needs receive services to enhance their early development including special instruction, physical, occupational and speech therapies, behavioral consultations and other family supports.

Services include:

  • Youth Excelling For Success (YES) Program – ALABAMA – This program provides a variety of job training and placement services to young adults (Youth) ages 17-24 who are actively seeking short and long term employment goals in a “blended” onsite/online learning environment and tailored to meet the essential needs of each youth.
  • High School/High Tech – FLORIDA – Funded by the Able Trust and the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, this program targets youth with disabilities ages 14 – 22 with a goal to help youth graduate and pursue careers in high-demand jobs. 
  • Job Training – FLORIDA – Through a contract with the Escambia County (FL) School System high school students with special needs receive hands-on work experience and classroom training at Goodwill retail stores.

This year’s 35th Annual Greer's Markets/Goodwill Gulf Coast Golf Tournament was the best by par! Held at Magnolia Grove Golf Course, we had 49 teams participate, which included 196 players. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success for a GOOD cause! Greer’s Markets coordinated the tournament with the help of Goodwill Gulf Coast staff and volunteers.
