I listen to Sirius/XM radio a lot and I have to say that recently I am hearing songs from Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

And.... I'm not too keen on them. "Yellow Backed Fly" and "Me and Paul Revere" sound the same to me. Don't get me wrong. I should say that they are terrific musicians. Good clean vocals, impeccable timing and instrumentals. Maybe that is what makes their tunes boring to me. It is surgically precise and sterile.

Hey, I remember seeing Steve Martin his first time on SNL back around 1973 somewhere when he head an arrow through his head and played a banjo singing "I'm a ramblin ramblin ramblin guy". It was funny.

I'm glad to see he finally got serious about bluegrass. He can play very well. So can all of his band members. I'm not critiquing them, they are all very talented.

Still, I'm just not a big fan of his tunes. It may be just what I said earlier, the sound is too sterile for me. I like a more high lonesome sound. Just my thoughts.
