Battle Lake is a thriving community wrapped around the western edge of West Battle Lake in Central Minnesota’s “Lakes Country.”  The City has a population of 857 but grows tremendously in the summer as snowbirds return and tourists come to this beautiful small town known to be a “foodie destination” with 12-plus eating establishments.  You’ll also find several retail establishments, overnight lodging, service businesses, ice cream shops, coffee shops,

a Civil War Museum, public art throughout the community, and much more to explore.

Battle Lake is located at the junction of Highway 210 and Highway 78 in beautiful Otter Tail County and just 20 miles north of Interstate 94.  Throughout the year,  along with the opportunity to visit our many restaurants and businesses, you’ll find art and craft festivals and events, an annual City celebration,  turtle races, a farmers’ market, an ice fishing derby, the gathering

of Pilots at the airport and so much more.  Glendalough Bike Trail connects the City of Battle Lake to Glendalough State Park, providing a beautiful 12-mile loop through the community and the Park.   Battle Lake has something to offer every age in every season.

Battle Lake has been recognized as a bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community as awarded by the League of American Bicyclists. This designation recognizes the work the community has done to provide a great bicycling

experience.  Battle Lake was recently named  “West Central Minnesota’s Best Hometown” by one of the local radio stations conducting the contest, edging out 15 other communities in the area.   In the midst of the community, you’ll find an award-winning PreK through 12th-grade school providing an outstanding education for students in the area.  Battle Lake is not only a great place to visit but an even better place to call home.
