A study in the UK utilized continuous glucose monitors and oral glucose tolerance tests to investigate the influence of HIV serostatus on HbA1c levels in PLWH compared to HIV-negative individuals. Despite previous concerns about HbA1c accuracy in PLWH, the results showed no significant influence of HIV status on HbA1c levels, suggesting that HbA1c remains a reliable marker for glycemic assessment in PLWH.

In 80,893 individuals, the presence of diabetes, hypertension, and obesity correlated with heightened baseline pain levels and exacerbated pain post-intervention for knee or hip OA. In knee OA patients, the co-occurrence of these metabolic conditions led to significantly increased pain levels at baseline (adjusted mean difference 0.9), 3 months (1.0), and 12 months (1.3) compared to those without these conditions.
