Doris Banham Dog Rescue are so proud and privileged to be presented their cheque for £25,000 on the site of their brand new kennel block - a dream that the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust has made come true by awarding us their 40th Anniversary Special Project Award. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and the hearts of all the dogs in our care.
As we struggle to cope with the present national animal welfare crisis, the donation of this kennel block at our main kennels by the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust is a real Godsend. During this crisis we have had to take an increased number of emergency boarding kennels in order to save dogs' lives when our main kennels are full which has placed us under enormous financial pressure. We were 'the last chance to live' for these dogs who would all have died if we had not taken extra kennels. This block will allow us to move 10 dogs at a time out of emergency boarding to our main kennels for rehoming thus allowing us to reduce costs and increase our rehoming rate. We are so very grateful to Jean Sainsbury for giving us this amazing lifeline.

Dave is a majestic 7 year old ‘Dogues de Bordeaux’ X ‘Mastiff’
Dave entered our care after being found on the streets, with a heavy chain around his neck and multiple skin infections. We suspect he’d been used as a guard dog and then dumped.
Dave has progressed in leaps and bounds with lots of time and love from our kennels team. His skin is better now, due to medicated baths (as you’ll see in the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos).
Dave :
🐾is strong on the lead (although he doesn’t pull, he plods!) ♥️
🐾requires an only dog / only pet home
🐾needs an experienced ‘breed savvy’ strong owner
🐾likes his treats and a fuss!
🐾enjoys duvets to sleep on and really hates leaving them for a walk!
🐾has learnt his basic commands
🐾is fully vaccinated
Dave loves people and is now seeking his ‘happy ever after’ and that favourite duvet! He will make a loving companion.

BRANDY IS SEARCHING FOR HER ‘HAPPY EVER AFTER’ - COULD THAT BE YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW? 🙏
Brandy is an eight year old female Lurcher X. She gets on well with other dogs and has benefitted from the training programme undertaken in the kennels : to build up trust with adults.
She is friendly with the kennels team. Brandy walks lovely on the lead. There have been no issues in the kennels, but she can be nervous of strangers.
She is classed as a medium sized dog.
Not much is known of Brandy’s past apart from that she was at risk of being euthanised. Maybe it was linked to her unpredictability towards people, which has now improved due to her training programme.
Looking towards a positive future – Brandy is now ready to live her best life! Brandy is a lovely dog. Several visits to the kennels will be required, to build up a relationship of trust and confidence with Brandy. Brandy has not been cat tested.
Conversations would need to take place with regard to any older children/young people in the household.

IZZY
It is with devastation that I have to tell you that we lost Izzy under anaesthetic yesterday. Usually I have many words but today I have none. This gorgeous playful brave little girl has left a hole in our hearts that will never mend. Caring for her was a joy and a privilege and if love could have saved her she would be with us now.
Play in Heaven with the Angels til we meet again. Held in our hearts til we can hold you in our arms again. God bless you our sweet beautiful innocent little girl. There are no words to describe how much we love you xxxx
I can’t remember her background story, I read so many these days, but at least she learned from you that not all humans are cruel. You rescued her from a situation she should never have been in and loved her till the end. May the little sweetheart run and RIP for eternity.🌈🐾💔
