Il nuoto è un’attività che influisce notevolmente sul rafforzamento muscolare e sulla capacità respiratoria senza sovraccaricare la struttura scheletrica e tendine-legamentosa.
L’allenamento in piscina viene eseguito, secondo necessità, per migliorare il tono muscolare con carichi di lavoro adeguati al singolo soggetto e per migliorare la capacità aerobica e polmonare per quei cavalli che necessitano di mantenere e / o acquisire una specifica preparazione atletica.
La giostra in acqua (o camminatore sull’acqua) costringe il cavallo a vincere la resistenza dell’acqua e ad allargare il passo. Nella giostra in acqua il cavallo flette maggiormente le articolazioni e predilige l’utilizzo di determinati muscoli, favorendone lo sviluppo.
