Welcome to NAPT

The North American Proficiency Testing (NAPT) Program operates through the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) as a not-for-profit service and science-backed resource for the agricultural testing sector. The NAPT program has been in operation since 1998.

At its core, NAPT administers quarterly sample exchanges of soil, plant, and water collected nationwide to help agricultural and environmental testing laboratories with quality assurance.

  • Laboratories participate in blind and double-blind statistical evaluations and reports, and NAPT furnishes guidance and QA/QC tools to improve testing performance.
  • NAPT helps agricultural and environmental laboratories leverage participation and assure clientele of high-quality data.
  • Participating laboratories benefit from the scientific resources of the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA).
  • The Performance Assessment Program (PAP) is a voluntary add-on for accreditation with programs which require certifications in a specific test or analyte (e.g., USDA-NRCS, State-level certifications).

If you'd like more general information about NAPT, view the information sheet for pricing and other details. If you'd like to find out more about how your laboratory or research team might participate, fill out an online enrollment form, and we will connect with you!
