Just a short ferry ride from Fremantle or Perth, Rottnest Island has long been Western Australia’s holiday destination of choice.

With 63 gorgeous beaches, a fantastic range of guided tours and packages and some excellent places to stay, ‘Rotto’ is perfectly set-up for families, groups, couples and solo adventures.

This beautiful island also offers 45kms of walking trails, a fascinating cultural heritage and amazing native wildlife, including a colony of New Zealand fur seals and around 10,000 adorable quokkas. Swim, snorkel, hike, bike or just laze on the sand – this pocket-sized paradise really does have something for everyone.

Not cheap for the tickets. On time departure. Do be there early, the ferry was so full, there were limited available seats . The staff were kind and came to help people find seats.We were there at 4pm for the 430pm departure and the whole ferry was already full!

Service overall was very good. The one missing star is because the bikes aren't up to scratch and probably needs to be upgraded, it's a struggle going around the Island with them.

A very good day for a party of 4 with only negatives being 1 bike had gear issues & the 4.30 ferry home was very full & seating was cramped with groups having to separate to get seats.We went over on 7.30 from Freo & smooth loading & trip arriving on time. Our rented bikes were available- sadly 1 bikes gears were poor. Otherwise all good.The 4.30 ferry was a 3 deck boat stopping Freo enroute to Perth. It was packed & for some uncomfortable. Would pay to get on asap & not leave it to 4.25.Trip home was smooth. Both ferries had snack bar/bar working on board serving an array of snacks, & hot & cold drinks.Guests were able to retake their own bikes to island. The stop in Freo is very central, easy to get to, with parking available.The Island is great.

The ferry ride was fine but I'm peed off. I have an Ebike but was told I couldn't take it on the ferry as it has an integrated battery. Due to safety regulations I was told ebikes are not allowed unless the battery is removed. However, waiting to board today 2 people came off the ferry with ebikes with batteries in place wrapped in cling film. Seems you get nothing for doing the right thing.

This policy is standard for all guests on Rottnest Express services however other companies may have different policies than ours. Excellent service, our ferry was completely full and we left and arrived on time. Cheaper tickets than sealink on our return. Good seating options, feels a bit smaller than the sealink ferry but works well. Only 30 minutes between Rottnest island and Fremantle so just enough time to sit down and relax for a little bit. Toilets are available on board. You can bring your bicycle too if you want.

Really friendly, efficient and professional staff. Great experience from booking at the kiosk at Barrack Street jetty in Perth to disembarkation at the end of the day. We did the premium package, where the crew laid on a great spread with good coffee in the morning, and fab nibbles with wine tasting on the return. As we weren't renting bikes, the 90 min bus highlights tour with Larry driving and Malcolm giving really interesting and informative commentary (with a few groaners of jokes lol), was really worth it. Great value for money and highly recommend
