In 1978, we planted 2,000 pine trees on our farm in Elko, Minnesota, and we’ve planted thousands more every year since. In 1991, we opened our second farm on the frontage road of Interstate 35 in Lakeville. Planting, shearing, mowing, hoeing, fertilizing, irrigating—growing Christmas trees is a long process and labor intensive. It can take a small tree 8 to 10 years to grow big enough to sell for Christmas. It is a huge commitment of time and resources. More than 30 years ago, we started selling some of our trees for landscapes. All our trees are grown in heavy soils and routinely root pruned for easy transplanting—and we provide them to our retail customers at wholesale prices.
We grow Fraser, Balsam, and Canaan Fir, Colorado and Black Hills Spruce, and a few Scotch and White Pines. From spring to fall, we sell ball and burlap and potted trees for landscapes. From the weekend before Thanksgiving, we sell Christmas trees, as well as custom made wreaths, swags, and garlands.
In 1997, we opened our Christmas Shoppe. Our inventory includes tens of thousands of decorations produced in countries all over the world. In 1999, we began selling on the internet. Are you looking for something unique? Check out our online store. Our Shoppe is open to the public only during the last two months of the year and for special customer events. Want to become a selected customer? Contact me, Donna. I’d love to meet you.
