Preserving Roxbury’s Rural Heritage
Established in 1970, the Roxbury Land Trust preserves the rural character of Roxbury, Connecticut and neighboring communities for generations to come.
Today 3,800 acres of woodlands, waterways and farms are conserved as open space under RLT’s stewardship. More than 32 preserves offer 30 miles of hiking trails, stunning vistas, reminders of Roxbury’s history and quiet places to enjoy nature’s splendor.

Hurlbut Woods Trail Opening
The Roxbury Land Trust (RLT) is pleased to announce the opening of a new trail and parking lot for the Hurlbut Woods Preserve. We will be celebrating the trail opening on Sunday, April 28th at 1:00pm. Join us for a moderate 1-mile hike with seasonal views of Roxbury and a nearby vernal pool. We will meet at the parking lot located off Lower County Road between Route 317 and the Roxbury Transfer Station.
Bird & Nature Walk with Larry Fischer
We will hike the River Road Trail identifying wildlife and plants along the way.
Black Bears In Connecticut
The Roxbury Land Trust invites the community to learn more about coexisting with the black bears of Connecticut on Friday, May 3 at 11:30 am in the Community Room at the Roxbury Town Hall.
