Good Neighbor Parking...
We ask all residents to please be a good neighbor and fully utilize ALL of their private parking spaces, including your garage and driveway BEFORE parking your vehicle in our limited guest parking spots.  This way we always have enough spots for overflow parking of residents and guests.

We thank you for your cooperation.

Graffiti Hits Our Community Again
A resident informed a Board Member that the police were in the community on February 7th, to investigate graffiti on the green electrical utility box cover servicing the small pond. Two people, a man and a woman in their 20s, were seen defacing the box. The police have recorded the graffiti, which was removed by a resident volunteer the following day.

This is yet another reminder that we all need to be vigilant to keep Waters Edge safe. If you ever see anything suspicious, we ask you to immediately call the police. If you can, video or photograph the incident, as evidence for the police, from the safety of your home or car, and recommend you do not interact with the person(s).

Help Keep Trash & Recycling
Where it Belongs
To help keep trash and recyclables from blowing around our community, please remember the follow recommendations:
  • Do not bag your recyclable items; leave items loose in your tote. Bagged items will not get recycled.
  • Remember, glass is no longer recycled in Fairfax County. You can recycle your glass at the I-66 Transfer station on West Ox Road.
  • Do not overfill trash bins.  Please only load totes so the top can fully close. Excess trash and recyclables can spill out and blow around the community.  Save your excess trash for the next collection day.
  • Patriot Disposal will not pick up large items that will not fit in the tote such as mattresses, furniture, large toys, etc. For pick-up of large or bulky items, contact Patriot (fee may apply) at 703-257-7100, or a junk removal service directly.
  • Place your totes in the street, not on the area between the street and the sidewalk, with the silver handle toward the sidewalk.
  • Remove your tote from the street by the end of trash pick-up day and store it out of site in your garage or backyard.
  • If during inclement weather,  holidays, etc., trash or recycling is not picked up, please store your tote out of site until the next scheduled pick-up date.
THANK YOU!

Pet Waste Problems Continue,
We Need Your Help
The problem of pet waste continues to be an issue in the community.  Several owners have brought to management’s attention that dog walkers are allowing their pets to do their business on private lawns and driveways.  This is necessitating homeowners and residents who do not even own dogs to pick up dog feces.

If you walk a dog, please be responsible and keep your dog from doing its business on private property.  Direct the dog to a common area and, in any case, pick up your dog’s waste and dispose of in your own household trash.

Thank you for your cooperation,
Water’s Edge Board of Directors

2024 Dues Payment Update Reminder

Effective January 1, 2024, quarterly assessments were increased. The single-family home assessment is now $300.86 per quarter, and the townhouse assessment is now $453.54 per quarter.

If your payment is made using an online bill payer function through your bank, please remember to update the payment information to reflect the new payment amount. Please check your online or automatic payment method to ensure any necessary changes to the required payment amount to avoid an added account late fee of $25 due to the account carrying the unpaid balance, along with a $25 late notice certified letter mailing fee.

For those owners using direct debit, no further action is needed as the HOA quarterly dues are updated automatically from SCS’s billing system.

Route 29 Widening Project
The VDOT project to widen Route 29 will reconstruct and widen 1.5 miles of the road from 2 lanes in each direction to 3 lanes between Union Mill Road and Buckleys Gate Drive. It is expected to relieve a major bottleneck and lengthy back-ups during AM and PM peak hours, particularly at the Stringfellow/Clifton roads traffic signal.

The project will also correct vertical alignment (hills and dips) to improve visibility, add and improve shared-use paths on both sides of Route 29 and provide paths to walking and bicycle trails at the Fairfax County Parkway and West Ox Road interchange.

You may have noticed tree clearing work on both sides of the road as preliminary work continues.  The project is expected to be completed by Spring 2026.

The estimated cost of the widening project is $98 million dollars, funded with federal, state and county dollars, as well as part fees under the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project Agreement.

That section of Route 29 averages 30,000 vehicles a day.

Thieves are Active
A resident recently had a visitor’s car broken into while parked in guest parking. Electronics and other items were stolen. Additionally, strangers have been seen driving the community and taking photos. While this may be innocent home improvement company reps looking for potential replacement window, roofs or other projects, Waters Edge is a private community and these canvasing actions are by law, trespassing.

These recent activities should remind us all to remember the following:

• ALWAYS lock your cars and remove anything of value that can be viewed from the outside.
• ALWAYS lock home doors and windows (front and rear).

• ALWAYS keep your garage door closed. An unattended open garage invites crimes of opportunity.

• NEVER open doors to strangers.

• For deliveries, set up text notification so you can immediately bring in your deliveries. You can also request specific location delivery, such as your front porch vs. the driver leaving the package in your driveway. Additionally, if you know the package will sit for hours, send your Amazon deliveries to your office or to a nearby hub locker. Amazon’s nearest lockers: 7-Eleven next to CVS and at the nearby Whole Foods.

• Remain vigilant to suspicious activity and watch out for your neighbors.

PLEASE HELP KEEP WATERS EDGE SAFE!
