Experience

VP of Engineering
What If Media Group, New York City

Feb 2022- March 2023

What If Media Group is a leading advertising technology company that, with their secure, proprietary media and marketing channels, drives consumer acquisition through a combination of AI, first-party data, and insights.

I oversee 4 teams which comprise the Product Engineering department. In this role I am responsible for the planning and execution of the product roadmap supporting our first-party sites, list-management, and messaging (email/SMS/push) capabilities.

Key Accomplishments:

  • Delivered portions of a reimagined internal CMS that was scoped and built around users’ workflows resulting in fewer errors and many hours saved. This was a modernization effort and was built using a service-oriented architecture on top of a constellation of existing legacy backend services and newly built services.
  • I rolled out agile development practices across the entire product engineering department, greatly increasing the department’s efficiency and productivity.
  • Built a near-real time event stream to bridge the gap between disparate systems and replace periodic batch jobs with real time data processing.

Technologies:

  • AWS
  • Java / Python / Ruby (Rails) / Node.js
  • JavaScript / TypeScript / React.js
  • PostgreSQL / DynamoDB / MongoDB
  • Kafka
  • Redis
  • Snowflake
  • Docker / Kubernetes
