UPCOMING YOUTH QUILTING CLASS

A FREE YOUTH QUILTING CLASS, for ages 10 to 16 years, is offered by the Shiner Heritage Quilters Guild on June 24, 25, and 26 (Mon. – Wed) from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00p.m. and June 27 (Thurs.) from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 102 W. Church St., Shiner (1 block off Hwy. 90A)

Students need to bring:

 -Sewing machine in good working order and machine instruction manual. All students must provide their own sewing machine.

 -Small scissors.

The Guild will provide decorated bags filled with fabric and essential supplies. Each student will be paired with a Guild member who will give individual guidance along with lots of TLC. Light refreshments will be served daily. Enrollment is limited to 7. Deadline for enrolling is Wed. June 19. Please sign up ONLY if you plan to attend each of the class sessions.

The Guild recognizes the Shiner Methodist Church for the use of the Fellowship Hall, The Square Quilter for assisting with supplies and South Star Bank of Shiner for donating supply bags that the members decorated with quilt blocks.

 

 

To give support to health care workers during the COVID-19 virus pandemic, Shiner Heritage Quilters have made face masks for use in local hospitals.

Shiner Heritage Quilters have stepped up to help caregivers during the COVID-19 Pandemic by using their quilt-making skills and fabric to sew face masks for use in area hospitals.

Shiner Heritage Quilters donation

Pictured are Shiner Heritage Quilters President Janet Ferguson along with First United Methodist Church Pastor Rob Clopton, his wife, Sandra; Church Secretary Mary Kristynik and her husband, Kenneth, who were honored guests at the Guild's summer dinner held at the church on July 2nd.

 

The Guild presented a donation to the church in appreciation for the opportunity to use the Fellowship Hall and Activity Center for meetings and the biennial "Spring into Quilting" shows.

 

The Guild meets the first Tuesday of the month at the Methodist Fellowship Hall. Members come from Shiner and surrounding area towns. Visitors and new members are always welcomed at the meetings.
