Ljuti Hora, a Balkan band I've been playing with regularly in Berlin for the past two years spent three days recording 18 tracks in February. The ensemble is made up of tapan/darabuka, accordion, gaida, clarinet/flutes, tambura/Cümbüş. Our friend Manu Miethe was the engineer.
I'm playing either Macedonian tambura, Turkish Cümbüş and maybe even sing background vocals on a couple of tracks. I can't remember. Ljuti Hora is a great dance band, playing the Tanzhaus once a month at
Mehana Trakia Bulgarian restaurant in Berlin.
As a string player in Ljuti Hora it's tradition to make a recording with the band, take really funny photos for the album cover and then relocate to a different country.
We're hoping to get the CD mixed mastered covered shrinkwrapped spat upon and polished by Fall 2011.
