I am Professor of Philosophy at Metropolitan State University of Denver.  In 2012, I received my doctorate in Philosophy from Princeton University, where I was part of the Program in Classical Philosophy.

I serve as one of the Lead Faculty Advisors for the Philosophy as a Way of Life Project, sponsored by Notre Dame and the Andrew Mellon Foundation. I also edit Endoxa: An Ancient Greek and Roman Philosophy Blog.

My primary area of research is ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, with my current work focusing on Aristotle’s theory of understanding and Aristotle’s views on change and motion. My other research interests include late ancient philosophy, especially Plotinus and Augustine, and the medieval traditions of commentary and engagement with Aristotle, particularly on the issues of causation and cognition. I also work on number of topics in the philosophy of religion including theories of personal identity and survival, the relationship between divine and human agency, and divine simplicity.
