The ACELC exists "to give a united voice against errors that are officially adopted in convention, tolerated, and/or promoted in the LCMS.”

No One Knows That Day and Hour”

When our Lord spoke those words to His disciples (Matthew 24:36), He was describing the day of judgment and the establishment of the “new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” (II Peter 3:13) As the Church today, having just celebrated the Ascension of Our Lord, we await that day when Jesus will suddenly appear in glory to “judge both the living and the dead.” God’s people anticipate that day with joy, and in fact pray for its coming, knowing that in Christ all is ready.

While we don’t know about our Lord’s return, we do know the day and hour when the ACELC will gather for their annual conference and business meeting. This year’s conference, under the theme, “A Fraternal Conversation: The State of Our Synod in 2024” will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 18th and 19th. District Presidents John Hill and Brian Saunders, President Harrison’s assistant Jeffrey Hemmer, Historian Martin Noland, and banquet speaker Jason Braaten headline the conference and will provide their perspectives on issues facing the Synod. Topics include the Doctrine and Practice of the Lord’s Supper (President Hill), the Role of Women in the Church (Rev. Hemmer), The Office of the Holy Ministry (President Saunders), and Correction in the Lutheran Church (Dr. Noland). The Conference also includes “break-out” sessions for participants to engage presenters and fellow participants in discussions on these important topics.

The Association of Confessing Evangelical Lutheran Congregations (ACELC) exists “to give a united voice against errors that are officially adopted in convention, tolerated, and/or promoted in the LCMS.” You are invited to attend the conference to learn more about the State of the Synod, add your voice to the discussion, and join with the ACELC in seeking to help the Synod hold fast to a faithful confession of doctrine and practice.

Follow this link ACELC Annual Conference to register for the Conference. There you will find more information about the conference, hotel accommodations, and the speakers. We look forward to seeing you in Kansas City on June 18th and 19th.

ACELC Video

This video serves as a great discussion prompter for congregations, gatherings of circuit pastors, districts—all who care about the spiritual well-being of our brothers and sisters in Christ within the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. It spells out clearly the issues of doctrine and practice that continue to cause division within our synod and threaten our ability to walk together. It also shows our desire assist in the return to faithfulness within our synod.

We encourage you to watch this video, and use the study guides, as we together seek to deal with such issues, guided by the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions. We pray that these resources, and others available through the ACELC website, will be a blessing to you and our synod. We welcome your feedback.
