Adolphe Richard Cooper (Dick Cooper) was descended from an Anglo Irish family who had left their farm in Byfleet, Surrey in 1661 to settle in County Wicklow, Ireland.

Dick Cooper was well-known throughout Kent, in England, as a raconteur extraordinaire.

A man who vividly recalled adventures serving with The French Foreign Legion and Special Operations Executive.

Service that included the heroism of this Legionnaire and the subsequent winning of the Croix de Guerre at Gallipoli/Dardanelles WW1 and the incarceration and subsequent escape from a prisoner of war camp at Laghouat, North Africa WWII.
