Innovative Technologies, Instruments and Services to Advance Life Sciences Research

Spinhance technology development focus is precise, automated, flexible and easy control of continuous biomedical imaging procedures. This is particularly important when imaging inherently moving biological systems, such as lung and heart. Our objective is to give imaging researchers and other users maximum control over the entire imaging process and enhance the overall productivity and quality of the in vivo images. Some of the key capabilities include: user-programmable protocols, process automation, on-the-fly as well as programmed administration of contrast agents, anesthetics and inhaled gas mixtures, and of course integrated data collection throughout the session. Animal research devices are designed to be scalable across a wide range of species, from mice to pigs.

Our primary interest is utilizing MRI/NMR and CT scanners for functional cardiopulmonary imaging. Hyperpolarized xenon (129Xe) MRI of lungs under strictly controlled respiratory maneuvers and subject to dynamic control of inhaled gas composition has been demonstrated in ventilated animals. Continuous imaging of pulmonary function during voluntary breathing has been demonstrated in research volunteers.
