“Merchant and pirate were for a long period one and the same person. Even today mercantile morality is really nothing but a refinement of piratical morality.”
“Where there is a sea there are pirates”
“Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.”
“Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates”
“It is when pirates count their booty that they become mere thieves.”
“The average man will bristle if you say his father was dishonest, but he will brag a little if he discovers that his great-grandfather was a pirate.”
“Life’s pretty good, and why wouldn’t it be? I’m a pirate, after all.”
“Even pirates, before they attack another ship, hoist a black flag.”
“Fifteen men on the Dead Man’s Chest
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!”
How could you forget to include, “Arrr, arrr, arrr, arrr …”? 😀

Fine, I see how it is! (runs to mirror and checks tongue, it’s good) -sticks out tongue- How about a sea shanty? Aww too late! You’re getting one anyways. 😉
THE COAST OF HIGH BARBARY
Look ahead, look a stern,
Look the weather in the lee,
Blow high! Blow low!
And so sailed we.
I see a wreck to the windward
And a lofty ship to lee,
A sailing down all on
The coast of High Barbary
O are you a pirate
Or a man-o-war? cried we,
Blow high! Blow low!
And so sailed we.
O no! I’m not a pirate
But a man-o-war, cried he,
A sailing down all on
The coast of High Barbary
We’ll back up our topsails
And heave our vessel to,
Blow high! Blow low!
And so sailed we.
For we have got some letters
To be carried home by you,
A sailing down all on
The coast of High Barbary
For broadside, for broadside
They fought all on the main,
Blow high! Blow low!
And so sailed we.
Until at last the frigate
Shot the pirate’s mast away,
A sailing down all on
The coast of High Barbary
For quarters! For quarters!
The saucy pirates cried,
Blow high! Blow low!
And so sailed we.
The quarters that we showed them
Was to sink them in the tide,
A sailing down all on
The coast of High Barbary
With cutlass and gun,
O we fought for hours three,
Blow high! Blow low!
And so sailed we.
The ship it was their coffin
And their grave it was the sea,
A sailing down all on
The coast of High Barbary
*And yes, I’m quite finished now, thank you very much!! 😀
