The Meaning Of Colors

I have selected 6 colors. First of all, I’ll explain the 4 basic colors: red, blue, green and yellow. Finally, we’ll discuss the colors white and black.

Red

Red is the color of fire and blood. It’s the warmest of all colors. This color can also mean danger, that’s why they use this color for certain road signs. Red stimulates the nerves of all five senses, and it can increase your fysical energy and resistance.

Green

This color is associated with nature, hope, growth, fertility, spring and the future. Green reduces stress and offers protection and stability. It’s also the most restfull color for the human eye. Green is a safe color, if you don’t know what color to use anywhere use green.

Blue

Blue symbolises spirituality, tranquillity, youth and truth. ThisĀ  color gives you a more relaxed sensation and it can reduce pain. Blue gives a feeling of distance. Artists use it to to show perspective.

Yellow

This color is associated with joy, happiness, wisdom and energy. It brings inspiration and hope. Yellow is full of creative and intellectual energy (maybe that’s why Post-it notes are yellow?). Yellow is very effective for attracting attention, so use it to highlight the most important elements of your design.

White

Strictly speaking, whit isn’t a color. Actually, it’s a combination of all colors. White symbolises cleanliness, purity and innocence. Brides wear white in many countries, because white symbolizes a virgin. This color provides protection, inner peace and comfort. In advertising, white is associated with coolness and cleanliness. It’s often use to suggest simplicity in high-tech products.

Black

Black is actually the absence of colors. It’s associated with death, evil, power and formality. Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown. It usually has a negative connotation. When we look at a design process, we see that black can provide perspective and depth. Combined with red or orange, black can give a very aggressive color scheme.
